Permadec was engaged in the Majors Road Interchange project in Adelaide, working alongside the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, Acciona, and WGA to supply over 800m² of GRP permanent formwork. This innovative formwork solution enhanced onsite efficiency, reduced costs, and accelerated installation.

Scope of Work

• Skewed Panels for Structural Alignment: Standard panels were skewed to suit the alignment of the structure, minimising onsite modifications and optimising installation.
• A1 Type Panels for Seamless Integration: A1 type panels were supplied to be installed between the existing structure and the new structure, ensuring a smooth transition and structural consistency.
• Innovative Cantilever Panel Design: Permadec cantilever panels were designed and supplied with an upstand, eliminating the need for additional edge formwork. These panels required no support from beneath, significantly improving efficiency.

Project Benefits

• Enhanced Onsite Efficiency: The use of cantilever panels reduced material requirements and labour costs.
• Rapid Installation: All panels were installed in just four days, an exceptionally fast turnaround.
• Minimal Equipment Requirement: 90% of panels were installed manually, reducing reliance on heavy machinery and improving site accessibility.
