Short Street Bridge
Melbourne, Victoria
Single Bridge Lift:
Permadec was engaged to provide a cutting-edge formwork solution for the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 project. Our responsibilities for the Short Street Bridge encompassed the design of Permadec panels tailored for installation on both the SUP bridge section and the main bridge section.
- The main bridge design necessitated the installation of Permadec panels on the bottom flange in certain areas and the top flange in others.
- This requirement led to the design of differing panel types, ensuring they could accommodate a deck depth exceeding 700 mm in some sections.
- Additionally, panels were crafted with custom notched cut-outs for splice plate areas.
The SUP bridge Permadec panels featured integrated upstands, eliminating the need for edge formwork on site and enhancing overall efficiency.
Products Supplied
- Permadec standard panels with integrated edge upstands.
- Bespoke panels with notched cut-outs for seamless fitting around splice plates.
- 150mm rib centres to suit reinforcement details and prevent on site clashes.
Key Facts
- Offsite installation of Permadec panels reduced working at height requirements & rail possession risks.
- Single lift of the 36 metre bridge, weighing 265 tonnes. This streamlined the overall construction sequence.
